Yesterday’s away match was a tough one for us, with plenty of lessons learned all round. We’re still learning how to play together as a team, and yesterday was just one of those days where things didn’t quite go our way. Despite the scoreline, we felt we were the better side for large parts of the first half. We created chances but just couldn’t take them when they came, while Wordsley did exactly that and were clinical in front of goal. Remmy was cool, calm and collected from the spot, confidently finding the bottom-left corner and sending us into half-time 3–1 down. In the second half, we kept battling and managed to get another goal back after some brilliant team play. Milly delivered a great cross and Olly R finished it really well. Despite all our determination, we just couldn’t find a way through again. Wordsley defended well, stood firm and secured the win. The game finished Wordsley 4, Wollaston 2, but the lads and lass can hold their heads high knowing they gave absolutely everything. 🏆 Parents’ Players of the Match - Milly & Remmy It was simply too close to call, so today’s award was shared. Milly was excellent as always. Her battling, determination and work rate were fantastic, and she topped it off with some brilliant passing. Remmy gritted his teeth and battled for everything. He also stepped up to score a superb penalty into the bottom-left corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance. Well done, Milly and Remmy! 👏 🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Match – Remmy This was a really difficult decision, with several players deserving a mention. Elliot did a fantastic job relaying our messages to the team. Harry put in some brilliant work and did everything we asked of him. Olly R, despite still recovering from a hamstring injury, had a great game and took his goal really well. Jake worked himself into the ground in the middle of the pitch and gave everything for the team. That being said, we felt Remmy deserved the Coaches’ Player of the Match award overall. His positive, never-give-up attitude was a great example to the rest of the team.
